Dental Bonding - Frequently Asked Questions

in Orange County & Los Angeles, CA

1. What is tooth bonding?
Tooth bonding involves a composite resin filling placed on your teeth. Tooth bonding is a safe and effective way to fix gaps, cracks, and gaps in your teeth as well as whitening your smile.

2. How do I know if I am a good candidate for dental bonding?
The ideal candidate for dental bonding is someone with good dental health, but has aesthetic problems they would like to fix. Dental bonding can help a number of problems, including:

  • Decayed teeth
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Spaces between teeth
  • Short teeth that make your smile look gummy
  • Misshapen of teeth

3. What's does the tooth bonding procedure involve?
Tooth bonding a rather simple procedure that can be completed in just one visit to our cosmetic dentistry office. You will need very little preparation before the procedure. Dr. Henry will carefully select a shade so your dental bonding resin matches your natural teeth. Dr. Henry will then roughen the surface of your teeth in order to help the resin material bond to the teeth. After Dr. Henry applies the resin to your teeth, a laser is used to harden the material. The dental bonding procedure takes approximately one hour, and you are out the door with a beautiful new smile.

4. How do I care for my bonded teeth?
Maintaining your dental bonds is easy. They can be cared for the same as your natural teeth - by regular flossing and brushing.

5. How long do dental bonds last?
The life of your dental bonds depends on a number of factors. This will mainly depend on how much bonding material was applied. This will also depend on your oral habits. Usually, dental bonds last from five to ten years.
